As a communications professional with cross-sector experience, I was extremely hesitant about taking the leap to start my own business. I’ve always been inspired by Safiya’s confidence and courage to create a life of her own making using her priorities as her guide, so I asked her for a one-on-one to learn more about what it would take for me to do the same. After one conversation, I had what I needed to focus and put together a plan to get my consulting business off the ground. Within one month, I’d secured two clients and am working on a third. Safiya gave me the sincere encouragement and heartfelt motivation to believe in myself and my ability to share my gifts and talents with the world. I highly recommend her as a coach, who will soon become your sister and one of your dearest friends.

If I looked up the words motivation or inspiration, a picture of Safiya Jafari Simmons would appear as the associated synonym. Simply put, she is your motivators, motivator;yes, I really mean that. I met Safiya, randomly, at a reception for communications professionals in Washington, DC in June 2014. I went to the event with every intention to pass out a few business cards, listen to the featured speaker of the evening, grab a few bites to eat and head home–“the usual”. I never really get much more out of those events, so, for sure, this one would be the same. I was 1,000% wrong. Yes, I did pass out a few cards, listened to the guest of honor, grabbed some food and then I met Safiya–one simple conversation with her changed my life. That conversation inspired me, challenged my thinking, motivated me to act with purpose and passion and energized me to commit to fulfilling what I believe to be my life’s work. I walked in as one woman and left another. By the end of the night, I was in tears (of joy and awe) because Safiya had drawn out of me that which had laid dormant for at least a decade–the confidence to believe in myself and pursue my life dreams. I have refocused my energy to do something I’ve always wanted to do–attend law school. I am now studying for the LSAT, applying to law schools, and possibly planning to move out of the area. Before meeting Safiya, none of that was a possibility. How could one woman, a stranger at that, single-handily ignite such a fire in me? I now know, she is anointed, her ability to inspire is innate, it’s apart of her DNA. She was born to help others reach their highest potential, lead their best lives and love it! I am so blessed and grateful for having met Safiya. She is the truth!

“Safiya Simmons is a master motivator! Having taken the leap of faith herself, she is well suited to help professional women harvest their own educational backgrounds, professional experiences, and personal passions to take their careers to the next level.”

Working with Safiya has truly been a privilege and has definitely opened several doors in my career path that I never knew were possible. I met Safiya two years ago when she was working for Congressman Elijah Cummings as his press secretary. We became fast friends and we stayed in touch after she left the Hill to pursue her own consulting firm. She was aware that I had a healthcare background based on my Hill experience and she has included me on several of her projects. Not only have these projects opened my eyes to new career paths, but they have also enabled me to meet other individuals that are focused on healthcare work in order to build my clientele list. Before meeting Safiya, I never believed that consulting would be something I would be interested in doing on a consistent basis. Now, I know that I want to continue working with Safiya for as long as she will have me as well as potentially build something of my own one day. Safiya has truly changed my outlook and I know she is doing the same for other women like me.

After I met with Safiya, the wheels of my mind wouldn’t stop turning. From our conversation I uncovered new ideas and contacts that I never thought of before. It was such an empowering experience! I have worked hard to establish my track record as a public relations professional, and it was refreshing to not only have someone recognize my work, but to also show me how to use it to propel my career in the future.
